Fabric Landscape Collage   (6 to 6-1/2 hour class plus lunch break, for all skill levels)

Create a beautiful landsape using fabric and fusibles, with no stitching! In this one-day class, you’ll complete an 11"x14" fabric landscape of your own design, ready to be framed. It will look like a painting – a “fabric painting”! No experience is necessary. Anyone can make these. With many chances to change your mind as your work evolves throughout the day, it’s easy and fun. These landscapes make wonderful gifts, since they can be designed in any style or color scheme. If you prefer, Debbie will show how to alter this technique, so your finished decollage can be quilted or stitched later, at home. Detailed handout included.  See more examples of this class on the Landscapes page.
Price for groups up to 22: $525 flat fee.   (Small groups, 8 minimum:  $35 per person)
Supply list is given, or optionally, I can possibly provide everything except scissors for a materials fee of $22 per student.

Fabric Seascape Collage   (4-hour class, for all skill levels)

Create a breathtaking underwater scene in fabric, using fusibles to make an 11”x14” fabric decollage that can be framed or stitched/quilted at home later, if you prefer. No templates or patterns are needed with these easy techniques. Learn how to use your rotary cutter to cut kelp in a free-form style – it’s easy! With their vibrant colors, the fish are “woven” through the kelp to give your seascape a 3-D look. They make great gifts, and it's a fun project to share with your kids and grandkids – they’ll love making “fishy” scenes! A detailed handout will be given. See more examples of this class on the Seascapes page.
Price for groups up to 22: $350 flat fee for 4 hours.   (Small groups, 8 minimum: $30 per person)
A supply list is given, or optionally, I can possibly provide everything except scissors for a materials fee of $18 per student.

Fabric Collage Greeting Cards   (3 to 3-1/2 hour class, for all skill levels)

Learn to make one-of-a-kind greeting cards by fusing fabrics onto blank card stock, and embellishing them with Debbie's rubber stamps, inks and embossing powders, making 4 cards in class. No stitching is required and no experience is needed. These cards can be made for special occasions or as elegant note cards - your choice. They're even nice enough to be framed, for great gift ideas. Bet you can't make just one! Learn lots of tips and tricks in this class. A great way to use small fabric scraps. Handout included. See more examples of this class on the Cards page. (Click here to see photos from a recent Card Class.) Note: An Advanced Card Class is also available as shown on the Advanced Cards Page; please inquire. There is also an Abstract Card Class (no stamping & embossing, not using pre-printed motifs); samples are on Cards Page 3. The class fees are the same for all 3 card classes, but the optional materials fees may be different; please inquire.

Lectures:

"Fabric Scraps Become Fine Art"   (this goes nicely with the Fabric Landscape or Seascape Class, Jewelry or Cards)
Stretching the boundaries of what can be done with fabric, Debbie encourages quilters and other fiber artists to see their work as fine art. She will show lots of samples along with slides, explaining how she “accidentally” developed her fusible technique and sharing how it doesn’t take any art training to create a beautiful fabric landscape collage without the time and planning required in quilting. Of course, stitching or quilting can also enhance these pieces. Not to replace quilting, but adding to it, this is a great way to work with all those leftover fabric scraps. Arrange them to create landscapes, underwater seascapes, or even abstract pieces. Add a mat and frame, and voilá, it’s fine art! This will open up a whole new world to fabric lovers – you'll never look at fabric the same way again!

"Fiber Fusion"  (this goes nicely with the Fiber Fusion Wallhanging Class and/or Fiber Fusion Vessel Class)
Learn how to use loose silk fibers, and other fibers made from bamboo and even bananas, fusing them together to make your own unique "fabric". This lustrous Fiber Fusion fabric can be used in quilts, fabric collage, wearables, bags and all kinds of crafts including 3-D vessels. Fiber Fusion can be fused, stitched or quilted by hand or machine, though stitching isn't required. There is nothing quite like the delicate texture created by fusing fibers together in layers. The results are stunning! Debbie will have lots of samples to inspire and show you how to make this fun technique your own. She will also share resources for the fibers and medium/varnish, so you can try it at home.

“Fabric Painting – Easy Techniques with Eye-Popping Results!"   (also available as a class; see above description)
Join the fun as Debbie takes you through her specialty fabric painting techniques. See how easy it is to create your own one-of-a-kind fabrics, for quilts that sizzle! She will share her “soft skies” painting technique, along with many others including scrunching, sun printing, mottling, sponging, stamping, pleating, tilting, splattering, twist & twirl, shibori and landscapes. Learn lots of tips and tricks. Fabric painting is fun and anyone can do it! What a great way to make your quilts, wearables and other fabric art truly unique. Warning: fabric painting can become addictive!   (Note: This is not a messy demonstration! Lots of samples will be shown, and a presentation given showing each technique.)

Price for small groups (15 or less), 30-45 minutes: $150.
Price for large groups (unlimited attendees), 1 to 1-1/4 hours: $275 if booked with a class; $325 for lecture alone.

Learn to make the most out of printed fabric so your mandalas look intricate but really aren’t! No sewing is required. Each student’s piece will be unique! Add a Swarovski crystal to the center of each mandala for extra sparkle, if you like. The finished piece can either be quilted later or wrapped around a stretched canvas, which Debbie will demonstrate in class. A handout is included. Ice Dyeing on Fabric   (6-1/2 to 7 hour class, plus lunch break, for all skill levels)

Create your own unique fabrics by sprinkling dyes over ice covered fabric. So beautiful, similar to batiks, only better! First we'll prepare the fabrics in a soda ash solution, then the real fun begins. Bring any fabric (or scarves or t-shirts) made of natural fibers like cotton, silk, rayon, wool, bamboo or blends of these. Learn different ways to scrunch, twist, twirl, fold, clamp and your fabric to get different patterns. Choose your dye colors and watch the magic as the dyes melt over the ice! Wear old clothes and shoes, and we'll use masks and gloves for safety with the powdered dyes, but we'll also use liquid dyes. Detailed handout included. Easy techniques, no prior experience necessary. This is a great way to make your quilts, wearables and other fabric art truly special! See more examples of this class on the Dyed Fabrics page.
Price for groups up to 22: $525 flat fee.   (Small groups, 8 minimum: $35 per person)

These Suedes can be displayed on small easels, or Velcro strips can be added to the back for easy hanging -- it's your choice. They're nice enough to be framed, if you prefer, since they are a 5"x7" standard frame size. Such lovely inexpensive gift ideas, and what a fun way to use your fabric scraps! You'll learn lots of tips and tricks. A handout is included, so you can easily make more of these beautiful Suedes on your own. See more examples of this class on the Suedes page.

It's easy with Debbie's fusing techniques and her Scan-n-Cut machine that will help with your fabric cutting. The motifs can be fans, fish, pets or any fabric print that is small enough for the 11"x14" sized piece; you can even make an abstract piece if you like! It can be quilted later if you prefer, or you'll be shown how to wrap and staple it to a stretched canvas. A handout is included, for your reference when making more of these lovely fabric decollages. See more examples on the Flying and Floating page.

Experiment with different kinds of paints, inks and even shaving cream to get spectacular results! Screen printing is fun for all ages and can be done indoors. No masks, but we'll wear gloves to keep paint off our fingers. Lots of tips and tricks, plus a detailed handout. This is a great way to make your quilts, wearables and other fabric art extra special. Fiber Fusion Wallhangings  (6 to 6-1/2 hour class* plus lunch break, for all skill levels)

Create your own "fabric" using unspun fibers/roving and other threads/fibers with textile medium. This technique results in the most lustrous one-of-a-kind fabric that can be used in quilts, fabric collage, wearables and all kinds of arts & crafts projects. Fiber Fusion can be fused, stitched or quilted, although stitching isn't required. We'll each make our own Fiber Fusion fabric in the morning, taking it home later for a future project after it dries. Then in the afternoon, you'll choose one of Debbie's finished Fiber Fusion fabrics and choose one of three styles to make your own unique wallhanging. Stitching is not required, but students can bring their sewing machines optionally, to add more texture and interest to this beautiful fiber fusion fabric. Debbie will demo her stitching tips, simple sewing with no free motion required, and will also show how to make a facing (no binding) and how to wrap these wallhangings around canvas if you prefer not to stitch or quilt. A detailed color handout is included. See more examples of this class on the Silk Fusion pages.
Price for groups of up to 22:  $525 flat fee.   (Small groups, 8 minimum $35 per person)
A supply list is given; students bring fusible web, batting, background fabric and scissors, etc., and a $55 kit fee includes supplies
to make one Fiber Fusion fabric for a future project, one pre-made Fiber Fusion fabric to use in class, metallic and other fabrics,
a handout and lots of supplies, some of which students take home for making more Fiber Fusion on their own.
*Note: This class can be also be split into two half-days, where students make the Fiber Fusion fabric, then come back in a few days when it's dry to assemble the wallhanging. In this case, the kit fee would be $28, because they get 1 piece of Fiber Fusion, not 2.
Click here to see the Logistics Page for details about classroom setup, travel, etc.

You're welcome to email or call 505-362-2675 with any questions.
Thanks so much!
Fiber Fusion Vessels  (4 hour class, for all skill levels)

Learn to make these exquisite vessels by choosing a vase then bonding silk and other fibers to it using a special varnish. Once dry, remove it from the vase and you have a beautiful Fiber Fusion Vessel. Insert an electronic candle or fairy lights for a soft glow that really highlights the fibers. You'll have fun playing with dozens of fibers and choosing your favorites to make a one-of-a-kind vessel! These fibers are incredibly soft yet so strong when bonded together. Add Angelina fiber, Firestar, yarns, threads or other embellishments for sparkle if you like (included in the kit fee). The varnish does not make the vessel shiny or overly stiff, just sturdy enough to hold its shape. It will still be soft and textured and oh, so touchable. There's nothing else quite like it! Debbie will also demonstrate how to bond fibers to a glass vase permanently, as pictured on the bottom of the first Fiber Fusion Vessels page. A detailed color handout is included, so you can easily make more vessels at home. They make great gifts! See more examples of this class on the Silk Fusion Vessels pages.
Price for groups up to 22: $350 flat fee.   (Small groups, 8 minimum: $30 per person)
Students bring a few old towels, a box and maybe a glass vase. A $33 kit fee covers everything else, including their choice of an
an electronic candle or fairy lights. Each student goes home with a finished vessel, which will dry within a few days.
